Research Studies

Zack Woods Herb Farm is a 10-acre certified organic medicinal herb farm and botanical sanctuary located in the heart of the green mountains of north central Vermont. We have majestic mountain views and are surrounded by pristine forests and streams. It is on this little piece of heaven that in 1999 we began our dream of living and farming sustainably while providing people with the highest quality medicinal herbs. All of our herbs are organically grown or ethically wild harvested and exhibit the incredible life force that flows through our land.

In 2006 we completed a research project which demonstrated our successful methods for cultivating and marketing several species of medicinal herbs native to this region that have become threatened due to habitat loss and over-harvesting. The project was funded by a grant from SARE (Sustainable Agricultural Research and Education). This research demonstrates profitable land use alternatives for local farmers while at the same time helping to preserve our native plant populations.
