Melanie
Slick-Carpenter grew up at Sage Mountain under the loving
tutelage of herbalist Rosemary Gladstar. It was there that she
started her first business, Sage Mountain Herb Products. Over
the last 16 years she has continued her work as a farmer, community
herbalist, 7th grade public school educator, and a teacher and
organizer of herb conferences in Vermont and New Hampshire.
Jeff
Carpenter has farming in his blood. Descending from a long
line of Vermont dairy farmers, he began to develop his love of
plants managing a local nursery. He then graduated from Rosemary
Gladstar's apprentice program and co-owned Sage Mountain Herb
Products. Since then he has become a farmer, educator, writer,
and researcher of the cultivation and propagation of medicinal
herbs. Together, their passion for the green world is evident
in all that they do as they spend their days working in the fields
and in their community.
